ForeignExchange's employees riding 155 miles for Children's Hospital Colorado (medical translation)
When we're not managing medical translation projects, some of us are getting on our road bikes. A week ago, a group of us biked 155 miles over the course of three days in the Rocky Mountains.

We conquered Freemont Pass, Tennessee Pass, and Vail Pass. We climbed 6,000 feet in one day. The stunning mountains in our backyard became our playground for three days. We rode and finished Courage Classic benefiting Children's Hospital Colorado for the first time. It will for sure not be the last time. We're hooked.

Since several of us were new to road biking, we started to meet up early on Saturday mornings to do training rides. As we were grabbing a cup of coffee in the kitchen at work, we discussed and compared tired legs, bikes, and what hills or distances we were going to conquer next. Our colleagues were cheering us on as we were getting tired or accomplished yet a new steep climb.

We trained together, and also stayed together during Courage Classic. We shared jerseys, butt cream, jokes and laughter throughout the three days. We had a lot of fun as our bodies got more and more tired.

The ForeignExchange biking team joined the established Courage Classic team Summits for Samantha. Team Summits for Samantha has been raising money for Mitochondrial Disease research for the past two years. This team is very personal for Maria Hopfgarten, training manager at ForeignExchange Translations. Her son lives with a mitochondrial disease, and the raised money will directly benefit her son. To have her colleagues join her in this goal made it very special for her. Many colleagues also donated to the ride. In addition, ForeignExchange sponsored each employee in the ride, and paid a dollar amount for every mile ridden.

The best part of the ride was to pass the finish line together as a team. We waited for everyone to make it back to Copper Mountain, and we finished together. It was a great accomplishment for each of us to conquer this monstrous bike ride. It was an amazing feeling to be part of something so much bigger than ourselves. As a team, we have today raised close to $78,000. Our goal by the end of August is to reach $100,000. The money will go straight to mitochondrial disease research.

Congrats to your accomplishments. It must have been really great, even though I realize it must have cost a bit of sweat:)
