Who will be king (of quality)?

The king has all authority and power over his subjects. He makes pronouncements from his throne—reasonable or unreasonable, right or wrong—that must be followed.

The king attains his position based on royal lineage, the family tree automatically assigning his high place regardless of ability to effectively rule the kingdom.

Likewise, thousands of translation project managers, perhaps without consciously thinking about it, have bestowed upon their in-country review staff a similar power and title: The King of Quality. What role does your in-country review team play in the realm of multilingual projects at your company? Have you bestowed too much authority and power to your in-country review staff? Are there better options to validate quality rather than at the very end of a project?

We’ve prepared a white paper that questions the validity of performing quality assessment at the end of the line and leaving it up to one person. Download the white paper and then let us know what you think.

In an effort to better serve drug and device clients in the UK and Europe, ForeignExchange Translations has added staff in Cambridge, England. Steve White and Nancy Pollini joined the company on March 1st and will be responsible for supporting existing client relationships and building new ones.

Steve is a 30-year veteran of the pharmaceutical industry, having worked in business development for companies in the renal and radiology fields before moving to the service provider side with one of the world’s largest CROs.

Nancy has 20 years of localization experience, having worked as a linguist, project manager and desktop publisher before moving into management. She speaks four languages, which will be invaluable in her role as Strategic Account Manager for us.

Mike Bry, our Vice President of Sales, says of the new additions, “We were looking to augment our already strong team in Madrid by opening a UK office and Steve and Nancy are the ideal people to support our growth efforts in Europe. They both bring a wealth of experience that will not only help our customers but improve our company.”

Join us in welcoming Steve and Nancy to our team!

Air traffic control

"I am the air traffic controller of translations," is how one of our client contacts described her role in her company. Meg Muller is the Translation Coordinator for one of the largest medical companies in the world and oversees the translation of several million words per year. So you can imagine that Meg has learned a little something about process efficiencies and best practices.
Meg recently sat down with us to discuss her role at her company and what she's learned over the course of eight years in the job. Here's the video:
