   Without passing too much judgment on the type of vendors listed, are we to take seriously a translating offer from a babysitting service? I think the professional translator is safe from competition found at these and similar sites.

   There has been so much buzz about bidding direct on-line for business services. I was intrigued and decided to give it a try with a fairly straightforward transcription project. While the price was great, I wasted so much time managing and editing the final product that I considered it an awful value. It was a good reminder that there's no substitution for experienced staff and vendors.

   In Poland, there are many translation offers on Allegro, our local eBay equivalent. I even posted some there too, got a couple of jobs this way.

   Well, at least this is an original way to sell one's translation services! But seriously, there are better places than ebay to do this...

   A little scary in some ways - the original eBay ad had gone by the time I came across this but I did look at this EN<>PT<>EN ad. It didn't inspire confidence, not withstanding the spelling mistake.
